MTH 50-1039 WTIU.
The all-new WTIU combines a wifi module and a track interface unit into one unit. Featuring four channels, the new WTIU can now control conventional DC locomotives by varying DC power to the track, allowing the user to control command and non-command equipped locomotives on the same track at the same time. The WTIU sets up in seconds and doesn’t require a home WiFi system to operate. It can control accessories and switches when connected to the separately sold AIU Accessory Interface Unit and can receive commands from an unlimited number of smart devices.
DCS is the EASIEST-TO-USE, MOST INTUITITVE command control system you can buy.
It works with ANY iOS OR ANDROID SMART PHONE OR TABLET.
It can be UPGRADED FOR FREE over the Internet.
It can DO MORE for less money than other command control systems.
It's why you'll have MORE FUN operating your trains than ever before.
It can RUN OVER 7000 M.T.H. PROTO-SOUND® 2.0 & 3.0 LOCOMOTIVES and every Lionel TMCC®, EOB, or Legacy™ locomotive ever made — and run 99 of them at the same time, on the same track, independently, in command mode.*
It can also RUN ALL CONVENTIONAL AC or DC LOCOMOTIVES without the purchase of any additional hardware.
With the addition of an Accessory Interface Unit (AIU), it can OPERATE ANY O SCALE ACCESSORY OR SWITCH. It can CREATE SCENES AND ROUTES that are triggered with one push of a button.
The new DCS WTIU, which is replacing the discontinued TIU, is still on track for production later this year. Unfortunately, the global pandemic and supply chain problems we've witnessed over the past two years have adversely affected the delivery schedule for the WTIU with delivery now pushed back to late 2022.
The DCS WiFi Track Interface Unit combines a wifi module and a track interface unit into one unit. Featuring four channels, the new WTIU can now control conventional DC and AC-powered locomotives by varying either power input type to the track. This new configuration now allows the user to control Proto-Sound command and non-command equipped locomotives on the same track at the same time regardless of their power source. The discontinued TIU could only vary AC power out to the track, limiting its conventional compatibility to AC-powered locomotives only. With the all-new WTIU, users can now also control conventional HO and G Gauge locomotives using any Android or Apple smart device and the DCS App.
The WTIU sets up in seconds and doesn’t require a home WiFi system to operate. It can control accessories and switches when connected to the separately sold AIU Accessory Interface Unit and can receive commands from an unlimited number of smart devices.
Requires an iOS or Android Smart Device + the DCS App
Broadcasts Its Own WiFi Signal - No Home WiFi Needed
4 Input/Output Channels (Requires Separately Sold AC or DC Power Supplies)
Variable Channels Output AC or DC Power
Now Supports Existing 50-1002 or 50-1038 DCS Remote Control Handheld Units
M.T.H. had previously reported that the new WTIU would not be accessible via the 50-1002 or 50-1038 DCS Remote Control Handhelds because the WTIU would not include the 900mhz receiver required to communicate with those older devices. Fortunately, a work-around has been developed that will allow owners of these remote handhelds to use them with the new WTIU by plugging them into a port on the WTIU. While the workaround does not allow for wireless communication with the WTIU, owners of the older devices will still be able to use them in tethered mode and enjoy all the features of the DCS system available in wireless mode.
* Requires Lionel TMCC or Legacy Command Base + Lionel LCS Serial Converter 2 (SER2) AND DCS Premium App
